This service answers
“What does my garment factory need to satisfy buyers and the RSC?”
You receive: DEA, corrective action plan support, remediation design and verified completion records
Structural safety in the garment sector
Since the Rana Plaza collapse in April 2013, structural safety has been central to Bangladesh's ready-made garment industry. The Accord on Fire and Building Safety and the Alliance for Bangladesh Worker Safety inspected thousands of factories, and since 2020 the RMG Sustainability Council (RSC) has carried that work forward. Buyers expect evidence that every building is safe.
How we help factory owners
- Initial review of existing inspection findings, corrective action plans (CAPs) and drawings.
- Detailed Engineering Assessment where required: as-built survey, cores, NDT, load survey and full analysis.
- Load plans that set clear, displayed limits for storage and machinery on every floor.
- Remediation design: strengthening drawings, method statements and specifications.
- Remediation works phased around production, with QA/QC testing.
- Verification support: completion records, test results and as-built documentation for follow-up inspections.
Typical findings in factory buildings
- In-place concrete strength below the design value
- Floors added beyond the original design
- Storage and machinery loads above floor capacity
- Rooftop generators, boilers or water tanks not included in the design
- Foundations on filled ground with no soil report
Working around production
Factories cannot simply close. We plan testing outside peak hours, divide remediation into zones, and favour fast, low-disruption methods such as CFRP and steel jacketing where they meet the requirement.
Questions owners ask
Are you part of the RSC?
No. The RSC is an independent national body. We are an engineering firm that carries out assessments and remediation for factory owners, following the structural-safety methodology the programmes established.
What is a load plan?
A drawing and signage showing the safe load for each floor area, so managers can keep storage and machinery within limits. It is one of the simplest and most effective safety measures.
Can you help close open items in our corrective action plan?
Yes. We review the open items, carry out any assessment needed, design the remediation and provide the documentation for verification.
