Codes and standards
| Code | What we use it for |
|---|---|
| BNBC 2020 | Loads, seismic zoning, wind, materials and detailing for every structure in Bangladesh |
| ACI 318 | Reinforced concrete design and seismic detailing |
| ACI 562 | Assessment, repair and rehabilitation of existing concrete structures |
| ACI 440.2R | Design of externally bonded FRP (CFRP) strengthening |
| AISC 360 and 341 | Structural steel design and seismic provisions |
| ASCE 41 | Seismic evaluation and retrofit methods for existing buildings |
| ASTM C42, C805, C597, C876 | Concrete cores, rebound hammer, pulse velocity, half-cell potential |
| RSC / Accord practice | Structural assessment and remediation methodology for RMG factories |
Four disciplines on every project
- Investigate first. Soil investigation, site survey and, for existing buildings, material testing before any member is sized.
- Design to code, check independently. Analysis and design by one engineer, independent check by a second.
- Control quality on site. Mill certificates, cylinder and rebar tests, inspection checklists and hold points at critical stages.
- Document everything. Design basis report, calculations, test results and as-built drawings, handed over to the owner.
The retrofitting process
- Detailed Engineering Assessment and NDT — what the structure really is.
- Structural design and load analysis — what it must carry, and the options.
- Jacketing, CFRP and steel strengthening — phased works with QA/QC.
- Final safety certification — verification and records.
